Plan of Action

Attending IMEA Annual Meeting

IMEA’s Annual Meeting is an opportunity for City Council members to meet other members and staff of IMEA, along with an excellent program on Electric Utility issues.  The Annual Meeting will be held on October 24 & 25, 2003.

City Council approval to allow City Officials to attend with reasonable expenses.

Civic Systems Workshop in Matteson, IL

Civic Systems Workshop will cover software tips, enhancements and sessions on Utility Billing, Service Orders and Inventory Programs Rock Falls are currently using.  Possible attendees:  Jim Simpson, Sherry Wind, Richard Downey and one from the Customer Service Center.  The Workshop will be held on October 23, 2003.

City Council approval to allow four to attend Workshop with reasonable expenses.

Upgrade of truck #108 Utility Body and Aerial Device

Reviewed the cost of transferring the equipment off our old truck to the new chassis with a cost of approximately $20,000.00 verses the purchase of new equipment to mount on our chassis.  Considering the depreciation factor, it would be in the best interest of the City to purchase a new one for $15,000.00 more.

Request City Council approval to trade our old truck #108 in and purchase new equipment for $35,018.23 for Drake-Scruggs located in Springfield, IL.

Reviewed the EPA spill control program the Electric Department is working on

The first phase of the plan was to install an Oil Separator at the Hydro Plant and to separate any oil that might be in the sump pit.  John A. Loos’ Sons, Inc. submitted an estimate in the amount of $6,570.00 to install the separator.

The Electric Department plans to issue a purchase order and proceed in having the separator installed.

Discussed Power Fluctuations on Switch #3, Avenue A Substation

On investigating the problem, we found the problem was caused by the wire mesh welders at Mazel Co. on West First Street.  We had a power factor correction firm check their equipment and make correction recommendations.  The equipment would cost $3,038.00 to correct this problem.

The Electric Department would purchase the equipment and Mazel Co. has agreed to install the equipment.

A quote for Vacuum Fault Interrupters

The underground circuit between Industrial Park Road and McNeil Road requires fault protection on the asphalt plant line to avoid circuit trips out of Centennial Park Substation.

The Electric Department plans to issue a purchase order to the lowest proposal from Resco in the amount of $8477.00 for this equipment.

Reviewed the Jobs completed and in Progress

Reviewed the list of projects the Electric Department completed and has scheduled to work on this year.
