Electrical Operations Manager

General Description

Energetic individual is being sought for progressive Municipal Electric Utility in Rock Falls, IL.  Individual is responsible for the planning, designing, and operation of the city owned generation, distribution, and communication systems.  This position reports directly to the Electric Utility Director.

Required qualifications

  • BSEE, BSEET from an accredited college or university, or DOL Certified Journeyman Lineman with ten years experience, or combination of education and equivalent field experience.
  • Three to Five years working in electrical generation, transmission, and/or distribution above 5Kv.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems.

Assistant Superintendent of the Wastewater Department

Summary:

The City of Rock Falls, Illinois is seeking applications for an Assistant Superintendent of the Wastewater Dept.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Superintendent in daily operations at the treatment plant.
  • Review daily plant and collection system operational and mechanical data for potential problems and provide solutions to correct them.
  • Assume the duties of the superintendent when needed.
  • Conduct laboratory testing and analysis.
  • Assure that plant and collection system assignments are completed.
  • Assist in training newly hired personnel in operational procedures and tasks.
  • Assist staff with completing repairs and assignments when needed.
  • Track staff time (i.e. monthly overtime, time sheets etc.)
  • Be on stand-by on a rotating basis
  • Work weekends when on stand-by
  • Respond to callouts within thirty minutes when on stand-by

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in a related field of study or technical certificate.
  • Valid and current Illinois driver’s license
  • Valid and current Illinois CDL Class B or the ability to obtain within six (6) months.
  • Six years of progressive experience in wastewater operations and maintenance.
  • Minimum of a valid Illinois class two wastewater operator’s license and must obtain a class one Illinois wastewater operator’s license within six (6) months of installation as Assistant Superintendent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft word and Excel.
  • Proficient in wastewater laboratory testing and analysis (i.e. BOD, TSS, Ammonia etc.)
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.

 

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants.
  • Operation and maintenance of pump stations and collection system.
  • Various computer programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Communicate well with other department and City officials as well as outside agencies.
  • Participate in the Safety program and enforce all City safety policies.

Tourism / Event Director

City of Rock Falls – Rock Falls, Illinois

Summary:

The City of Rock Falls, Illinois is seeking applications for a Tourism/Event Director. The Tourism/Event Director will be responsible for creating and executing a Marketing & Promotion Plan for the City of Rock Falls. Director will facilitate an active relationship with hotels/restaurants & attractions within Rock Falls. Work involves promoting and marketing Rock Falls to stimulate economic development and promote tourism. Director will be responsible to oversee and coordinate volunteers, sponsors and vendors for community events including the RB&W District.

Essential Functions:

Tourism:

  • Work with the Tourism Committee and City Council to develop strategies, programs, and policies to promote tourism.
  • Develop and implement a tourism marketing and promotion plan for Rock Falls working closely with hotels/motels, campgrounds, restaurants & all area attractions
  • Prepare tourism/event budget
  • Oversee creative message development
  • Develop relationships with national, international and regional tourism based publications and writers, tours operators and travel agents.
  • Prepare and release press kit to media; build campaigns and stories for unique selling points
  • Implement cooperative advertising programs integrating the tourism related segments that exist in Rock Falls (merchants, food/lodging, campgrounds, recreation, parks and river/water activities)
  • Promote attractions & community events to visitors
  • Maintenance and upkeep of the tourism website
  • Provide education program for hotel/motel, campgrounds personnel on attractions and events in Rock Falls
  • Participate in media and radio interviews; provide current and updated information to the press.
  • Represent Rock Falls in joint planning sessions to establish regional tourism activities; serve local committees that enhance tourism and foster economic development.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, conventions, and workshops to further knowledge, stay informed of the changes in the tourism industry, and exchange information.
  • Periodic night and weekend availability is required for some events related to the position and attendance at City meetings.

 

Event Coordination & Promotion:

  • Produce detailed event proposals.
  • Develop and manage event budgets.
  • Create and manage procedures for all event processes.
  • Plan and coordinate event-related services and general event logistics, including but not limited to:
    • Facilities/amenities
    • Reservations
    • Vendors
    • Signage
    • Displays
    • Special needs requests and requirements
    • Event security
    • Marketing and promotion
    • Event related materials
    • Develop and manage event organization structure and procedures, volunteers and income and expenditures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of tourism industry

  • Must be a self-starter with ability to work with volunteers

  • Able to design and compose publications

Minimum Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, communications, parks & recreation or a closely related field, and 1 to 2 years’ experience in marketing or public relations work; or any combination of training and experience which provide the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
